Communication skill is ranked as the number one skills for leadership. People in leadership position are expected to be highly competent at listening to ideas, correctly interpreting what is being communicated, presenting ideas, giving clear directions, and explaining procedures and missions. In fact, this quality – being an effective communicator – is usually cited as essential in any overall definition of what constitutes “a leader”. Communication skills are neither an inherited ability nor an elaborate art form; it is a learned skill developed through planning and practices. Good communication skills lubricate the organization’s operations, foster collaboration, initiatives, involvements and commitments from others. It has the ability to attract others to be constructive and productive. This course provides the foundation: basic principles, key action processes and practices for one to acquire effective communication skills.
